Heads and shoulders or bust-4 session sculpture class

This five session class will introduce you to the processes of building a life size head and shoulder model in clay. You will create your own bust and your finished work will be glazed and fired as part of the process.

1.  Your approach may be to explore realism, abstraction, stylization or fantasy but all based on the human form. Our first session will meet at the Hub and will involve exploration of ideas leading to decision-making regarding scale and shape of proposed sculptures. You may choose to work with photos or drawings that you generate prior to this class. It will be helpful if they are taken from various angles. Digital references are ok, hard copies may be more useful. We will be using these as reference to create armatures that will be the base to support the sculpted clay.

2. This and following classes will meet at Kadence Art Collective to continue our sculpting explorations in clay. You will have guidance during each 2 hour session and you will have access to the Kadence Collective for extended lab time.

4.This will be our formal wrap up session for personal instruction. You will be given any assistance you may need to complete your work on your own in your lab time.

5. This session will involve the post-construction phase of your adventure. we will meet by appointment at my studio to decide what glazing and firing options are available to bring your work to completion.
